4. Punishments.
The punishments to which offenders are liable under the provisions of this Sanhita are—
(a) Death;
(b) Imprisonment for life;
(c) Imprisonment, which is of two descriptions, namely:—
(1) Rigorous, that is, with hard labour;
(2) Simple;
(d) Forfeiture of property;
(e) Fine;
(f) Community Service.

4. दंड।
इस संहिता के प्रावधानों के तहत अपराधी जिस दंड के भागी हो सकते हैं वे हैं—
(a) मृत्यु;
(b) आजीवन कारावास;
(c) कारावास, जो दो विवरणों का होता है, अर्थात्:—
(1) कठिन (सश्रम), अर्थात्, कठोर श्रम के साथ;
(2) साधारण;
(d) संपत्ति का समपहरण (जब्ती);
(e) जुर्माना;
(f) सामुदायिक सेवा।
