Admission of execution by party to attested document

Full Text

The admission of a party to an attested document of its execution by himself shall be sufficient proof of its execution as against him, though it be a document required by law to be attested.

Plain English Summary

Clarifies that if a person who signed an attested document admits to doing so, that admission alone is enough to prove execution against them, overriding the need to call a witness.

Key Legal Elements

  • Admission of execution by the party
  • Sufficient proof against the admitting party
  • Overrides general attestation proof requirement

Practical Note

This simplifies proof—if the maker of the document admits signing it, you don't need to call the attesting witnesses for that person.
