In this Chapter,—

(a) “detained” includes detained under any law providing for preventive detention;

(b) “prison” includes,—

(i) any place which has been declared by the State Government, by general or special order, to be a subsidiary jail;

(ii) any reformatory, Borstal institution or other institution of a like nature.

इस अध्याय में,—

(क) "निरुद्ध" के अंतर्गत निवारक निरोध का उपबंध करने वाली किसी विधि के अधीन निरुद्ध किया जाना है;

(ख) "कारागार" के अंतर्गत निम्नलिखित हैं,—

(i) ऐसा कोई स्थान जिसे राज्य सरकार ने साधारण या विशेष आदेश द्वारा उप-कारागार घोषित किया है;

(ii) कोई सुधारक, बोर्स्टल संस्था या उसी प्रकार की अन्य संस्था।
