Punishment for rape in certain cases.

(1) Whoever commits rape on a woman under sixteen years of age shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than twenty years, but which may extend to imprisonment for life, which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of that person's natural life, and shall also be liable to fine.\n(2) Whoever commits rape on a woman under twelve years of age shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than twenty years, but which may extend to imprisonment for life, which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of that person's natural life, or with death, and shall also be liable to fine.

कतिपय दशाओं में बलात्संग के लिए दंड।\n(1) जो कोई सोलह वर्ष से कम आयु की स्त्री के साथ बलात्संग करेगा, वह कठिन कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि बीस वर्ष से कम नहीं होगी, किन्तु जो आजीवन कारावास तक की हो सकेगी, जिसका अर्थ उस व्यक्ति के शेष प्राकृतिक जीवन के लिए कारावास होगा, दंडित किया जाएगा और जुर्माने से भी दंडनीय होगा ।\n(2) जो कोई बारह वर्ष से कम आयु की स्त्री के साथ बलात्संग करेगा, वह कठिन कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि बीस वर्ष से कम नहीं होगी, किन्तु जो आजीवन कारावास तक की हो सकेगी, जिसका अर्थ उस व्यक्ति के शेष प्राकृतिक जीवन के लिए कारावास होगा, अथवा मृत्यु दंड से दंडित किया जाएगा और जुर्माने से भी दंडनीय होगा ।
