Furnishing false information.

Whoever, being legally bound to furnish information on any subject to any public servant, as such, furnishes, as true, information on the subject which he knows or has reason to believe to be false, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees, or with both... (enhanced for offences).

मिथ्या सूचना देना।\nजो कोई किसी लोक सेवक को किसी विषय पर सूचना देने के लिए कानूनी रूप से बाध्य होते हुए, उस विषय पर ऐसी सूचना देगा जिसे वह जानता है कि वह झूठी है, वह छह माह तक के कारावास या पांच हजार रुपये तक के जुर्माने से दंडित किया जाएगा ।
