Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid, etc.

(1) Whoever voluntarily causes grievous hurt by use of acid or any other corrosive substance or explosive is said to commit the offence of acid attack: Provided that the fine shall be just and reasonable to meet the medical expenses of the treatment of the victim.\n(2) Whoever causes grievous hurt under sub-section (1) shall be punished with imprisonment for life or for a description which shall not be less than ten years and shall also be liable to fine which shall be paid to the victim.

अम्ल आदि का प्रयोग करके स्वेच्छया घोर उपहति कारित करना।\n(1) जो कोई अम्ल या किसी अन्य संक्षारक पदार्थ या विस्फोटक के प्रयोग से स्वेच्छया घोर उपहति कारित करता है, वह अम्ल हमले (acid attack) का अपराध करता है : परंतु यह कि जुर्माना पीड़ित के उपचार के चिकित्सा व्यय को पूरा करने के लिए न्यायसंगत और उचित होगा ।\n(2) जो कोई उपधारा (1) के अधीन घोर उपहति कारित करेगा, वह आजीवन कारावास से या ऐसी अवधि के कारावास से जो दस वर्ष से कम नहीं होगी, दंडित किया जाएगा और जुर्माने से भी दंडनीय होगा जो पीड़ित को दिया जाएगा ।
