Full Text
(1) Every information relating to the commission of a cognizable offence, irrespective of the area where the offence is committed, may be given orally or by electronic communication to an officer in charge of a police station. If given electronically, it shall be signed within three days by the person giving it.
Offences against women and disabled persons have specific recording requirements, including recording by woman officers, videography, and residence-based reporting for disabled victims.
(2) A copy of the information shall be given forthwith, free of cost, to the informant or the victim.
(3) For offences punishable by three to seven years, a preliminary enquiry may be conducted within fourteen days to ascertain a prima facie case with DSP permission.
(4) Refusal to record information can be challenged by writing to the Superintendent of Police or making an application to the Magistrate.

(1) संज्ञेय अपराध की सूचना मौखिक रूप से या इलेक्ट्रॉनिक संचार (e-FIR) के माध्यम से दी जा सकती है, चाहे अपराध कहीं भी हुआ हो (Zero FIR)। यदि इलेक्ट्रॉनिक रूप से दी गई है, तो 3 दिनों के भीतर हस्ताक्षर करना अनिवार्य है।
महिलाओं और विकलांगों के खिलाफ अपराधों के लिए विशेष रिकॉर्डिंग आवश्यकताएं हैं, जिसमें महिला अधिकारियों द्वारा रिकॉर्डिंग, वीडियो ग्राफी और विकलांगों के लिए घर पर रिपोर्टिंग शामिल है।
(2) प्राथमिकी (FIR) की एक प्रति सूचना देने वाले/पीड़ित को तुरंत निशुल्क दी जाएगी।
