Public servant concealing design to commit offence which it is his duty to prevent.

Whoever, being a public servant, intending to facilitate or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby facilitate the commission of an offence which it is his duty as such public servant to prevent, voluntarily conceals, by any act or illegal omission, the existence of a design to commit such offence, or makes any representation which he knows to be false respecting such design, shall, if the offence be committed, be punished with imprisonment of any description provided for the offence, for a term which may extend to one-half of the longest term of such imprisonment, or with such fine as is provided for that offence, or with both; \nor, if the offence be punishable with death or imprisonment for life, with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years; \nor, if the offence be not committed, shall be punished with imprisonment of any description provided for the offence for a term which may extend to one-fourth part of the longest term of such imprisonment, or with such fine as is provided for the offence, or with both.

लोक सेवक द्वारा उस अपराध को करने की परिकल्पना छिपाना जिसे रोकने का उसका कर्तव्य है।\nजो कोई लोक सेवक होते हुए, किसी ऐसे अपराध का किया जाना, जिसे रोकना ऐसे लोक सेवक के नाते उसका कर्तव्य हो, सुकर बनाने के आशय से या यह जानते हुए कि तद्द्वारा वह उसका किया जाना सुकर बनाएगा, ऐसे अपराध को करने की परिकल्पना के अस्तित्व को किसी कार्य या अवैध लोप द्वारा स्वेच्छा से छिपाएगा, अथवा ऐसी परिकल्पना के बारे में ऐसा व्यपदेशन करेगा जिसका मिथ्या होना वह जानता है, यदि वह अपराध कर दिया जाए, तो वह उस अपराध के लिए उपबंधित किसी भांति के कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि ऐसी कारावास की अधिकतम अवधि के आधे भाग तक की हो सकेगी, या ऐसे जुर्माने से, जो उस अपराध के लिए उपबंधित है, या दोनों से दंडित किया जाएगा ;\nया यदि वह अपराध मृत्यु या आजीवन कारावास से दंडनीय हो, तो वह दोनों में से किसी भांति के कारावास से जिसकी अवधि दस वर्ष तक की हो सकेगी, दंडित किया जाएगा ;\nया यदि वह अपराध न किया जाए, तो वह उस अपराध के लिए उपबंधित किसी भांति के कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि ऐसी कारावास की अधिकतम अवधि के एक-चौथाई भाग तक की हो सकेगी, या ऐसे जुर्माने से, जो उस अपराध के लिए उपबंधित है, या दोनों से दंडित किया जाएगा ।
