Negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter
Full Text
Whoever does, with fire or any combustible matter, any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life, or to be likely to cause hurt or injury to any other person or knowingly or negligently omits to take such order with any fire or any combustible matter in his possession as is sufficient to guard against any probable danger to human life from such fire or combustible matter, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both.

This section deals with fire safety negligence (e.g. keeping open fuel tanks, set fires during high winds, improper storage of crackers or gas cylinders). It covers positive negligent actions as well as omissions to secure dangerous combustible property. The fine under BNS is increased to ₹2,000 (from ₹1,000 in the IPC). It is cognizable and bailable, triable by any Magistrate.

जो कोई, अग्नि या किसी ज्वलनशील पदार्थ से कोई कार्य ऐसे उतावलेपन या उपेक्षा से करेगा जिससे मानव जीवन संकटापन्न हो जाए, या जिससे किसी अन्य व्यक्ति को उपहति या क्षति कारित होना सम्भाव्य हो, या अपने कब्जे में की अग्नि या किसी ज्वलनशील पदार्थ की ऐसी व्यवस्था करने का, जो ऐसी अग्नि या ज्वलनशील पदार्थ से मानव जीवन को किसी अधिसम्भाव्य संकट से बचाने के लिए पर्याप्त हो, जानते हुए या उपेक्षापूर्वक लोप करेगा, वह दोनों में से किसी भांति के कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि छह मास तक की हो सकेगी, या जुर्माने से, जो दो हजार रुपये तक का हो सकेगा, या दोनों से, दंडित किया जाएगा।
